  • A pokemon with Rock Climb or the Absel Rope.
  • A Garchomp with full Happiness (255).
  • A team strong enough to take on a Boss.

Step by step guide

Snowpoint City

Upon winning the Sinnoh League Synthia appears at the pokemon center in Snowpoint city. When you talk to her she’ll tell you to meet her and her grandmother (again) in Celestic Town.

Celestic Town

After arriving in Celestic Town go in the Celestic Ruins. In the cave you’ll find 3 characters. Cynthia and Cynthia’s Grandma next to her, while looking at the glyphs is a suspicious character named Tourist. By talking to Cynthia she’ll tell you to speak to her Grandma. Her grandma will ask you if you’re here for the ruins. To progress the quest you must answer No. Then Cynthia shows her the relic she’s found and a message written on it that makes no sense. She will then redirect you for more information to the library in Canalave City.

Canalave City

You’ll then travel to Canalave City where you’ll visit the library in the North Western part of the city. Enter the library and go up to the top floor, where you’ll find Cynthia looking at the books at the South Eastern part of the room with the suspicious tourist lurking nearby. When you talk to Cynthia she’ll tell you to find a book that talks about humans harnessing the power of the sun ect. The book is located on the floor below Cynthia on the south eastern most shelf. Find it and go back to Cynthia. The book talks about a 4th lake which you have already seen when you came back from the Distortion World where you fought Giratina. Cynthia will now tell you that you need to decipher the message and therefore you need to visit prof. Rowan in his lab in Sandgem Town.

Sandgem Town

Upon entering the lab talk to Prof. Rowan first and then to Cynthia. Prof Rowan will decipher the message which actually talks about the previously mentioned requirements for the quest. At the end of the dialogue Cynthia will ask you if you understood everything and if you’re ready. Answer yes for the quest to progress.

Sendoff Spring

Next get the max happiness Garchomp, the rock climb/Absel Rope and the team of strong pokemon and go to Sendoff Spring south of Veilstone City. Talk to Cynthia and then keep walking. Climb the hill, go all the way around the lake and the climb down to meet Cynthia. You’ll notice that the suspicious tourist is there in front of a police officer trying to enter a cave. By talking to him he’ll initiate a long dialogue at the end of which he’ll battle you. Make sure you’re ready before you initiate that dialogue.

Surprisingly after you win the battle the guard will still not let you in. Talk to Cynthia again and she’ll say something about an indication, IV-V. She’ll ask if you understand what that means, you answer yes. In fact that means that you have to come back in the morning between 04:00 and 05:00. Then step in front of the guard and then do one step left (west). A monologue by Cynthia will start and second battle begins.
