The Gyaradosite quest is the quest done in order to acquire the Mega Stone for Gyarados—the Gyaradosite.
Preparations
To make the quest go as smoothly as possible, these preparations should be made:
- Either Magikarp with 120 or more IVs OR a shiny Magikarp with your OT
- 6 Water type Pokémon, preferably level 100
Beginning the quest
To begin the quest, speak with Lorelei in Cerulean City. She is located just south of the PokéCenter. Once she has been spoken to, head to Route 19 and speak with Misty.
Water training camp
You will have to complete the three trials set before you. Each trial will have its own conditions.
Trial Master Patience
This will require you to show a Magikarp with 120 or more IVs/shiny Magikarp with your OT.
Trial Master Adaption
This will require that you defeat him using only Water type Pokémon.

Trial Master Wisdom
This will require you to solve a riddle. The riddle will be referencing Nidoran male and female. You will need to find the Trial Master in a route that Nidoran can spawn in. He can be located in either Route 3, Route 9, Route 10, or Route 22. Once you have found him, return to Route 19, and speak with Misty.
Now you will battle Juan. Note that you are not limited to Water type Pokémon anymore.
