Vermilion City is a city located in Kanto. It is a perpendicular junction between Route 6 and Route 11.
This city houses Vermilion Gym—the third gym one will challenge in Kanto’s successional line. Lt. Surge presides over the gym, who specializes in Electric-type Pokémon and will reward the Thunder Badge to victorious challengers. This badge is also required to advance to Route 11, which is occluded to passersby who have yet to procure the badge.
S.S. Anne can be found adock Vermilion Harbor, and it will be accessible once Bill has bequeathed his passengership to you out of gratitude for completing his mini-task at his house on Route 25. This is the domain of the S.S. Anne quest, which rewards HM01 (Cut); this must be obtained in order to access Vermilion Gym in order to deobstruct the barricading tree in its passageway.
This is also where the novice-tier fishing rod in the Old Rod is claimable; this helps facilitate a player’s huntability of Water-type Pokémon greatly early on, since most are not huntable at this progressional stage due to one’s incapacity to Surf by then and the limited bevy of land-inhabiting Water-type Pokémon.

Psychic Marina — Legendary Reroll
You can find Psychic Marina while passing through Vermillion. She is found between the Pokecenter and the path leading down to Vermilion Gym.
She will reroll the IV points or Nature of any Legendary Pokémon for a Reroll Ticket or Nature Reroll Ticket, respectively.
This is particularly useful if a Legendary Pokémon has received bad IVs or if you failed to sync the right Nature.
However there is no guarantee that it will become better; in fact, it is possible to reroll the exact same Nature.
Vermilion Harbor
Vermilion Harbor moors most of the transregional ferry transits that are available in the Kanto region, as well as the S.S. Anne itself.
S.S. Anne
Main article: S.S. Anne
S.S. Anne is an upscale cruise liner that is boardable by the player as soon as Bill’s mini-task is completed in his house on Route 25.
While it can not be used to transit to another area during the player’s ephemeral passenger ship, it must be accessed exhaustively in order to complete the S.S. If one has 120 Kanto caught-data entries and 38 evolved-data entries registered on their Pokédex, The Love Sailor will transport them to Love Island for a fee of 
5,000 or for free if they have an active transportational pass.
Sevii Islands

With active membership and a Kanto-league championship, one can costlessly be ported to the Sevii Islands—a membership-exclusive archipelago that concatenates a supplementary region in the game.
Pinkan Island

Pinkan Island is an island known for being a special location where it is possible to find rare Pink Pokémons. It can be accessed by talking to the Pinkan Island Sailor. However, it is necessary to complete the first part of the quest before the Sailor takes the player to the island, or more precisely to Pinkan City.
Pinkan Island quest

The quest to access Pinkan Island can only be started after completing the Hoenn Elite Four as well as cumulating at least 250 hours of playtime. Once these conditions are fulfilled, Officer Jenny will appear in the middle of Vermilion City, slightly west from the Pokemart.
Talking to her, she will explain that she is chasing a Team Rocket duo, and will ask the player for help in finding them. The first person to talk to will be the lass in front of the Pokemon Center, who will explain the two Rocket members ran toward Route 6. The next destination is however further away, in Saffron City.
After following the trace of the duo and defeating them, reporting back to Officer Jenny will allow the player access into Pinkan Island. The quest will however continue there.
Fishing Rod
In the fishing guru’s house (westward of the Pokémart), the Old Rod will be costlessly claimable; this is the foundational rod that will enable you to fish for a multitude of Water-type Pokémon that might not be otherwise huntable without Surf.
It is advisable to obtain this early on, as your possession of this will be a prerequisite to obtaining the higher-tier Good Rod and ultimately the Super Rod.
PvP Coin Master
Main article: PvP Coins
Kanto‘s iteration of the PvP Coin Master will exchange prizes in return for PvP Coins—a currency that is attained from winning ranked PvP battles.
Farfetch’d—trader
An NPC trader in Vermilion House 1 (adjacent to the Pokémon Center) will broker a Spearow in return for her Farfetch’d.
The Farfetch’d tradee will defaultly hold a Stick.
Bike Voucher
An indigent house tenant, Samuel, will supplicate 
40,000 from you in order to help subsidize his electricity bills; if you disburse that to him in addition to showing him your own Ditto (under your OT registry, too), he will return a bike voucher, which can be redeemed for a Bicycle in Cerulean City‘s bicycle shop.
Dig Spot-fixer
In Vermilion Pokécenter, an explorer NPC will proffer to fix all potentially latent diggable patches that have yet to load despite that the cooldown time has elapsed.
Vermilion Subway
Vermilion City is one of the seven destinational outlets available in Kanto’s intraregional-subway system, thereby providing an expeditious shortcut to this area and to six other destinations from it.
Contingent that you have completed the intraregional-subway quest, you may board the subway from Vermilion City’s Pokémon Center for a fee of 
2,500 or for free with an active transportational pass.
TM-vendor
Outside, Elder Maulana will sell TM44 (Rest) for 
6,000 singularly or 5 for 
24,000. Its purchasability also requires the Thunder Badge.
Pokémon Club
The Pokémon Club houses an assemblage of Pokémon connoisseurs.
Herein, you can interact with all-seven of the available Eeveelutions in the game; this is the earliest-available avenue of culling their seen-data entries, as it may be a while until they are all naturally battled.
If you have registered the evolved-data entries of all Eeveelutions, Eeveelutionist Devan will reward you the Eviolite.
Mysterious Cultist
The Mysterious Cultist is located directly north of the Vermilion Gym. Once in a while, a World Quest will be triggered, in which all players in the server must hunt a specific given Pokemon and sacrifice them to the Cultist. Scores are based on total IVs of the Pokemon, and both an individual and server scores are accumulated with each sacrificed Pokemon. Participation awards up to 2 Mysterious Tickets, depending on if individual and server quotas were reached.
H. Ackerman
H. Ackerman is found standing beside a lamppost directly east of the cities gym. He will take the players Mysterious Ticket in exchange for a choice of being able to battle 40 Bosses in the week (compared to the normal 20), a 30 day train ticket, or access to Guild Island. For Guild Island the players guild must contribute a total of 20 Mysterious Tickets within the first week of the new PvP season, should the guild not be able to reach the goal, all the tickets will be refunded to the players that contributed. However if the guild does complete this requirement the first 60 players to go there will be allowed on for the whole month.
Birth Island
The Mysterious Captain at the Vermilion Dock will take the player to Birth Island at the cost of one Mysterious Ticket. Once there, the player will be allowed to catch a random very rare Pokemon, including certain Legendary Pokemons.

Vermilion Gym
Upon defeating Lt. Surge, you will procure the Thunder Badge.
Additionally, the gym-greeter will sell you TM57 (Charge Beam) for 
2,500.
Accessing the gym
Due to an occlusive tree in the passageway of the gym’s entryway, HM01 and either a Cut-toting Pokémon or a Tree Axe is required to reach the gym.
Complete the antecedent S.S. Anne quest if you have not already, since the HM item will be required for Cut to be out-of-battle-usable and for the Tree Axe to be usable to deobstruct the tree.
Gym puzzle
In order for Lt. Surge to be reachable, the electropad barriers must be deactivated; they will occlude the pathway to him until then.
The puzzle will be solved once you have activated the right sequence of switches in the gym.
The sequential combination is randomized for each player out of the 15 switches and it will remain constant until the puzzle is completed; as such, it may entail a trial-and-error run to deduce the correct combination. If you have a mismatch, simply activate the initial switch correctly and try a secondary switch in tandem.

Lt. Surge
As an Electric-type specialist, Ground-type Pokémon will be the most type-advantageous against his Pokémon. With a Ground-type Pokémon on-hand and/or one with a powerful Ground-type move to deploy, it is generally easy to trounce Lt. Surge’s lineup—both due to their Electric-type immunity and his Pokémon’s defensive weakness against Ground-type attacks.
If you have not already claimed the one-off Dig TM from the burglarized house in Cerulean City, you are advised to do so and teach it to one of your Pokémon—especially a Ground-type Pokémon, which are abundantly encounterable in Mt. Moon.
