Trainers Valley is a special Kanto area which can be accessed by taking the Interregional train between Saffron City and Goldenrod City. The option to travel to Trainers Valley will however only appear when already inside the train, and if the following conditions have been fulfilled:

  • Red has been fought at the summit of Mt. Silver. Having won is not necessary.
  • 120 caught-data entries of Generation I Pokémon registered in your Pokédex.
  • 38 evolved-data entries registered in your Pokédex.

On top of the 5,000 fee for using the train, moving to Trainers Valley will cost an additional 10,000 fee. Both of the prices are however free if the player has an active Transit Pass. Furthermore, there is no price for leaving Trainers Valley, and the player can choose if he wants to leave to Goldenrod City or Saffron City regardless of where he or she came from.

Trainers Valley exits southward to Trainers Valley Cave. However, there is a secret path that is well hidden. From the south exit, going north up to a first lamppost, then east to a second lamppost, it is possible to go through the trees adjacent to that second lamppost and reach a burrow. Going through that burrow leads to a second area of Trainers Valley where all the wild Pokemons are located at. Sneaking through the west side of the wall of rocks in the water leads further to a large crystal, which teleports the player to Pitch Black Cave.

Trainers Valley, being the entry point of its region, is equipped with a Pokémon Center, allowing the player to rest from exploring other areas beyond. There are also a few Moves that can only be only be learned from this area.

Notable miscellanies

Knock Off Tutor

A Move Tutor for the move Knock Off can be found surrounded in the trees in the center east of Trainers Valley. He will teach the move to any compatible Pokémon for the price of 15,000.

TM Vendor Kevin

TM Vendor Kevin is located in the north-east corner of Trainers Valley. He will sell various useful TMs, with some of them being unavailable anywhere else.

Hoenn Traveler Charles

This feature is no longer available due to the implementation of the World Quest.

Hoenn Traveler Charles was located on the eastern side of Trainers Valley, passing the secret path. He would have traded you the counterpart to your Latios/Latias for your own. This exchange would have cost 50,000 and would have automatically and randomly changed the nature and IVs of the one you received. This was a one time exchange, however.
