|
Route 119A is a Hoenn route located between Route 119B and Fortree City. Route 119 being separated into two parts, Route 119A is the northern end and, unlike what its name may imply, it is the second part that is visited.
This route is most known for its Weather Institute, which is attacked by the teams Magma and Aqua. As they are also blocking the bridge in the middle of the route, it will be necessary to defeat their leader in order to progress further. May will also be waiting for the player on the other end of the bridge, making this route very rich in encounters.
After the story events, it will be the turn of Excavation to make this route interesting in the long run. Located on the southern end of the route, Natural Site will keep the playing coming back many times once Excavation has been unlocked.
Notable miscellanies
Weather Institute
The Weather Institute is built directly west of the bridge in the middle of the road. Just like in the original games, it is necessary to visit the building as part of the story, and it is also home to Castform, the weather Pokémon. However, since all the events in the building are one-time events, there is no reason to return after business has been completed.
Receptionist
Talking to the Receptionist at the entrance, she will offer to heal the player’s Pokémons for free. As the path from Mauville City is very long, it is a much needed healing point for the upcoming encounters. However, once these are completed, Fortree City is just behind, giving little reason to use the Weather Institute’s healing point afterwards.
Maqua Encounter
When first traversing Route 119A, the bridge will be blocked by a Magma and Aqua grunt, and Maqua members will have invaded the Weather Institute building. There will be a lot of Magma and Aqua Grunts blocking the way, and the ultimate goal is to reach and defeat Magma Admin Tabitha in the back of the second floor.
Once Tabitha has been defeated, all the Maqua members will leave the building and the bridge outside will be unblocked as well.
Castform
After the Maqua members have left the building, one of the scientists that were blocked by Magma Admin Tabitha will fight the player. This fight is only to get the seen data of Castform, as it is not available anywhere due to its core mechanics not being functionnal.
May Encounter
Blocking the way immediately after the bridge, May will challenge the player once again, with the same team as back in Route 110 but fully evolved: She will have the final evolution of the starter strong against the player’s chosen starter and her two other Pokémons will be the either Wailord, Magcargo or Breloom. Her Pokemons are estimated to be level 40.
Natural Site
One of the Excavation sites is located here. As with all Excavation sites, it will cost 2,500 to enter.
