Route 111 Desert is a Hoenn desert spliting Route 111 into Route 111 South and Route 111 North. Although the desert is not story-mandatory, there is plenty to justify visiting it, starting with the possibility to earn one of the two Hoenn Fossils as well as to fight Regirock for its seen data.

The main point of interest that will keep the player coming back is its Historical Site, which can be accessed after Excavation has been unlocked.

Notable miscellanies

Collector Samuel

Collector Samuel is located directly east of the tower in the middle of the desert. After defeating him, he will offer the choice of either a Root Fossil or a Claw Fossil, which can be revived into Lileep and Anorith respectively, both showcased by his lineup.

Pokédex Number Pokémon Type 1 Type 2 Rarity Tier Held Item

#347 Anorith Rock Bug Rare

Rachel’s Friends Quest (Charlie)

One of the locations the fourth friend of Rachel can be found in is in Route 111 Desert, hidden under a tree south-east from the tower. He will trade the player’s Potion for a Pokeball yet again.

The next friend to find will be Ketoprak, who can be found in either Route 124, Route 128 or Mt. Pyre.

Regirock

In the southern side is located Desert Ruins, in which Regirock is located at. It will be possible to fight it after completing the Hoenn Elite Four. The battle is however only to obtain its seen data, and thus cannot be caught nor rechallenged, even after a defeat. He is estimated to be level 120.
