← Kanto Mainland regions Hoenn →

Johto is one of the mainland regions that is currently playable in Pokémon Revolution Online. It is unified to the same mainland continent as Kanto, encompassing the western segment of it.

By virtue of the regional linearity of the game’s storyline wherein regions are traveled to in generational succession, it is the second region that players venture into. It’s the neighboring region near Kanto, which will be made travelable after all-eight Kanto’s badges have been acquired and its Elite Four bureau has been vanquished.

It is inhabited predominantly by Generation II Pokémon, being the native land of them. While a smattering of post-generational Pokémon are interspersed throughout the wild, Generation III Pokémon and onwards will be mostly unacquirable until successive regions are completed, since there is a regionalized restriction to trading early on wherein only Pokémon caught from the region are tradable in its Pokémon Centers.

Transregional accessibility

Starting

Once the Kanto League has been defeated, Johto is unlocked. To reach Johto, head west from Viridian City into the Pokémon League Reception Gate. From there, head south to Route 26, then to Route 27, and finally to Route 28. Following Route 28, you will be in Johto. You will receive a warning explaining that you cannot go back to Kanto and all your Kanto Pokémon will be locked until you obtain the 8th Johto badge. Make sure to remove any held items your Pokémon may have, as they will be locked alongside the Pokémon that they are equipped to.

Returning to Johto

As mentioned above, you cannot travel back to Kanto until the 8th Johto badge is acquired. Once this has been accomplished, you can travel back to Kanto via the ferry in Olivine City or by going back the same way you originally entered Johto through. Keep in mind the ferry will cost 5,000 unless you have an active Transit Pass.
