Sinnoh Elite Four

The Sinnoh Elite Four can be fought in Pokemon League Sinnoh. The player must fight five difficult trainers, and it is suggested to use Pokémons from previous regions, as they are already trained and ready to fight the Elite Four. However, unlike Hoenn, Sinnoh has an excellent leveling spot in Sendoff Spring. Each trainer will fight with a full team of 6 Pokémon.

The player will have to fight the five following trainers:

  • Aaron, a Bug type master.
  • Bertha, a Ground type master.
  • Flint, a Fire type master.
  • Lucian, a Psychic type master.
  • Cynthia, the Champion who does not specialize in any type.

Aaron

Aaron will be the first member of the Elite Four waiting for the player. Using a Bug team, he will be weak to Fire, Flying and Rock. Of course, he is prepared against those types, as some of his Pokémon resist the type, and some others can counter-attack with super-effective moves. The Fire type will be the most efficient as only his Heracross can hit it hard, while Poison will be able to resist attacks from all of his team. However, his signature Pokémon, Drapion, do not share any of his team’s weakness, and will punish defensive buffs with its powerful critical hits.

Bertha

Bertha is the Ground type trainer. The first thing to note about her team is that all of her Pokemon use Physical moves, making Physical Walls a perfect pick of this match. The majority of her Pokémon also know Earthquake, making Levitate Pokemon another perfect counter to her team. Without these, her team will be difficult to take down without casualties. All of her Pokémon have huge offensive power with a coverage that leaves none of her weaknesses unchecked. She also makes use of her Hippowdon‘s Sand Stream to set-up her next two Pokémon, particularly boosting Excadrill‘s speed with its Sand Rush ability. Her signature Pokémon, Rhyperior will be hard to take down, and makes use of Weakness Policy to punish anyone trying to take it down with super effective moves.

Flint

Flint is the Fire type specialist, and perhaps the most offensive of all of Sinnoh’s Elite Four members. With Drought and powerful moves like Flare Blitz, any Pokémon that does not resist Fire will struggle staying alive. Fortunately, he is not very good at handling Dragon and Ground types. The former will resist his STAB attacks and take no super effective hit, while the later will be able to hit super effective all of his team while only fearing NinetalesSolar Beam. This particularly makes Garchomp his worst nemesis. Despite Water being strong against his type, Pokémon of that type will find themselves to struggle during this battle, as Drought will cut in half their power, and they will in return take super effective hits from over half of his team.

Lucian

Lucian is the first member of Sinnoh’s Elite Four that uses a type previously used in other Elite Fours, being Psychic. Setting up against him will be difficult, as most of his Pokémon have either devastating attacks, or will become dangerous if left alone. Defensively, the best type will be Bug, weak only to Sigylyph although they will only be super effective against two of his Pokémons. Ghost types will rather be the most efficient offensively, although they have to be careful of the front and back Pokémons with their Shadow Ball and Knock Off.

Cynthia

Cynthia, a popular character in the franchise, uses a very balanced team worthy of her Champion title. There are no evident weakness to exploit, and will be an all-on battle. However, it is to note that Fairy will do particularly well on all of her Pokémons except her Roserade. Lucario may seem scary to the fairies, but as it does not know any Steel move, Lucario is the one in disadvantage for that matchup. Playing defensively against Cynthia can prove innefficient, as Milotic can take defensive boosts away with Dragon Tail and use Recover, Spiritomb will wear down the already lowered PPs with Pressure, and two of her other Pokémons can possibly break through with Swords Dance.
