Dewford Town is a Hoenn town, isolated between the sea routes Route 106 and Route 107. The Peeko sailor will however carry the player to and from Route 104 and Slateport City, making the town accessible without the use of Surf.
Apart from its gym, the town does not have much of interest. It is even lacking a Pokémart, and as such, it will be necessary to return to another town in order to purchase items.
Notable miscellanies
Peeko Sailor
The Peeko old man, who carried the player to Dewford Town for the first time, will stay at the town’s dock. He will carry the player to either back to Route 104 or to Slateport City. However, he will refuse to go to Slateport City until the player has obtained the local badge. Although he is free the first times, he will also start charging a fee of 2,500 after completing the Hoenn Elite Four.
Sludge Bomb Seller
Right next to the Pokemon Center, Nesha will sell TM86 (Sludge Bomb) for the price of 5,000, or for the discounted price of 20,000 for 5 of them. She will however not sell any until Petalburg City‘s gym has been completed.

Dewford Gym
The Dewford Gym will be blocked by a Blackbelt, asking to take care of a weird guy in Granite Cave. For that, it is necessary to complete the Letter to Steven Quest, which starts in Rustboro City. However, reporting back to Mr. Stone is not necessary to unlock the gym.
The gym’s layout ressembles a zigzaging path along exercise rooms. Its central path is blocked by arrow tiles, which will bring the player immediately to the entrance upon stepping on, making them good shortcuts to leave the gym.
Upon defeating Brawly, the gym-greeter will start selling TM58 (Bulk Up) for the price of 2,500, or for the discounted price of 10,000 for 5 of them.

Brawly
Brawly is the Fighting type specialist of Hoenn. On top of his original team, he now also carries an Heracross, which knows some strong moves. The presence of many Dark and Rock moves makes his team also dangerous for four of the types that resist his main type. As such, the two types that can play defensively against his lineup are the Fairy and Poison types. With what’s available up to that point, that makes Marill the best candidate. The other way to go is to aim for one-shotting all of his Pokémons before they can act. For that, the Flying type moves are the best bet as its toughest Pokémon, Heracross, is double weak to it, on top of most Flying Pokemons being easily able to outspeed his Pokémons.
