Dark Cave Entrance is a Johto cave, which is optional for the Johto story. The cave has three entrances from Route 31, Route 46 and Route 45. However, one-way ledges prevents going to Route 45 from any of the other route, unless the Dig burrow outside Route 31‘s entrance is used as a shortcut.

The sight will be hindered by darkness inside the whole cave, as such it is recommended to bring a Pokémon with Flash. It is also necessary to use Surf in order to traverse from any entrance to another. The main reason for entering this cave will however usually be for its Diggable Patches, making Dig another field move to bring.
