The Johto Elite Four is a quartet of prodigious trainers challengers must defeat before battling Lance, the champion. They are challengeable at the Indigo Plateau upon acquiring all of Johto‘s badges.
Johto Elite Four
The player must fight five difficult trainers, and it is suggested to bring a party of level 90 Pokémon to succeed the challenge without spending too much money on healing items. This time, each trainer will fight with a full team of 6 Pokémon, and each will have one Mega evolved Pokémon.
The player will have to fight the five following trainers:
- Will, a Psychic type master.
- Koga, a Poison type master.
- Bruno, a Fighting type master.
- Karen, a Dark type master.
- Lance, the Champion who uses Dragon types.
Will
Will will be the first member of the Elite Four waiting for the player. Using a full Psychic monotype team, he will be vulnerable to Dark, Bug and especially Ghost types. However, his large type coverage leaves no Pokémon unchecked. Most Pokémon will attack with Special moves, as such, a Pokémon with high Special Defense is a good choice to consider. Else, the wisest choice would be to aim for a one-shot KO on all of his Pokémon. Be careful of his Xatu though, as its combination of Assault Vest and Magic Bounce will make it hard to take down without physical attacks.

Koga
Koga, the original Poison type leader of the Kanto region, makes his first appearance in Pokémon Revolution as a member of the Elite Four. Every Pokémon of his knows a Poison type move, as such, there is always a chance of getting Poisoned. Blocking these attacks with the Steel type is not a very good idea, as most of his Pokémon know a move to counter this type. However, using a Poison type Pokémon is a good idea, with only one Pokémon having a counter to it. Furthermore, that counter being Earthquake, it can be outplayed with Levitate. In particular, Weezing will take no super effective from any of his Pokémon. Be careful of his Crobat though, as it will come out with a powerfully boosted Acrobatics!

Bruno
Bruno, the Fighting type specialist of Kanto’s Elite Four, returns again in Johto’s Elite Four. However, this time he brings no Onix with him. While he focuses on physical attacks again, his Lucario will catch physical walls off-guard with his powerful special attacks. He also has improved from Kanto and will now be able to fight against Ghost Pokémon more easily, with 4 of his Pokémon knowing a Dark type move and the others having at least something neutrally effective. He also has a few countermeasures against the other types that resist Fighting.

Karen
Karen will fight the player with her Dark monotype team. Targeting her weaknesses might be difficult, as for each of Dark‘s weaknesses, she has at least 2 Pokémon able to counter that type. Furthermore, she has many tricks to counter trainers trying to set-up on her, such as Punishment, Taunt and Foul Play. It is to note, however, that only her Houndoom is capable of special attacks, making physical walls a good idea to bring into the battle.

Lance
Just like Bruno, the Dragon user Lance returns, but this time standing on the Champion throne. His team will also be more worthy of his type than last time, now having only two Pokémon that are not Dragon, as well as all of his Pokémon knowing either Outrage or Dragon Pulse. Fortunately, he knows no move to counter his main nemesis, the Fairy type. Furthermore, his last 4 Pokémon all know Earthquake and are double weak to Ice. Once his Charizard and Gyarados are out of the scene, the rest will ultimately fall in front of a Pokémon with Levitate, such as Weezing, or will fall quickly if a fast enough Pokémon brings any Ice type move.
