Cliff Edge Gate Cianwood City Route 41

Cianwood City is a Johto city, located at the end of Route 41. On its west is the entrance to Cliff Edge Gate, which eventually arrives to Johto Safari.

The city is home to the fifth Johto gym, as well as the Pharmacy, which will be necessary to visit in order to unlock the gym in Olivine City.

Notable miscellanies

Move Tutors

Superpower Tutor

A Move Tutor for the move Superpower can be found inside the house directly between the gym and the Pokemon Center. He will teach the move to any compatible Pokémon for the price of PokémonDollar.png12,000.

Vacuum Wave Tutor

A Move Tutor for the move Vacuum Wave can be found in the south-west corner of the city. He will teach the move to any compatible Pokémon for the price of PokémonDollar.png8,000.

Water Pulse Tutor

A Move Tutor for the move Water Pulse can be found inside the house in the south-west corner of the city. He will teach the move to any compatible Pokémon for the price of PokémonDollar.png5,000.

Cianwood City Pharmacy

The Cianwood City Pharmacy is a little more complete than in the original games. Just like in these, the Pharmacy is required to visit after seeing Jasmine at the top of the Glitter Lighthouse. The Secret Potion Maker will give the player the SecretPotion necessary to complete Jasmine's quest, on the condition that the player has already completed Cianwood City's gym.

The Pharmacy now also serves as the town's Pokémart, selling a variety of curatives and pokeballs.

Upon defeating Chuck, the Gym-greeter will start acting as a Move Tutor, teaching the move Drain Punch to any compatible Pokémon for the price of PokémonDollar.png10,000.

Chuck

Chuck is a Fighting type specialist, and he shows it very clearly with all of his Pokémons being fully evolved Pokémons of that type and knowing powerful Fighting type moves. A Ghost type Pokémon may be able to wall those powerful moves, and in fact render his Lucario completely useless, but bringing it too early is risky with his Primeape knowing the super effective move Assurance. Fortunately, there's many other types, such as Bug, Fairy and Flying that can wall the Fighting moves without the super effective drawback on any of his Pokémons.
